Breakfast Club Report

Please remember the Breakfast Club... volunteer to work by signing up in the Gathering Area or phoning Margaret D (339-3912)... by making a donation...and keeping us in your prayers as we continue our church's commitment to ministry in downtown Troy.

(If you are generous with the hungry and start giving yourselves to the down-and-out, your lives will begin to glow in the darkness, your shadowed lives will be bathed in sunlight).  Isaiah 58:10-11

Thank You

Dear Friends at First Presbyterian

Thank you for your phone calls, cards, and prayers during my recent hernia repair surgery.  The surgery went very well and I am well on the way to full recovery.  It is very nice to have friends thinking of you and praying for you at times like this!

The Ester Experience 2008

Sixteen ladies from FPC and their friends joined with 200+ attendees during our worst snow storm since the 70's to hear God's word, experience his Grace and join together in Christian unity to affirm our faith.  Despite the weather those who attended found their God in Word, in song, in worship, in interpretive dance, in the meals, in the quiet moments, in the craft and in the drama of Esther's Experience.  It truly was an event seeped in affirmation and grace.

 Divine Dinners of 8

Nearly 40 people met on March 15 at the homes of 5 hosts for a casual gathering for dinner and conversation called "Divine Dinners of 8".  Reports have it that everyone truly enjoyed the time to relax and visit and share a simple meal.

There will be another opportunity to gather in June (possibly Sat. Jun 7th), so sign up to be either a guest or a host and we'll be off again to the home of a member for a Divine Dinner with members of the church and their friends.

Hosts will be calling 6 guests to join them.  Each couple/single attending will be assigned a part of the meal and all will gather at 6pm to enjoy dinner time with friends from church.

Parish Health Ministry

Heart disease risk can be reduced by taking aspirin regularly.  Yet only 41% of adults over age 40 use aspirin and only 33% say they have discussed aspirin use with their doctors.  Regular aspirin use can prevent a heart attack in men and women who already have heart disease, and can reduce heart disease risk for people who have high cholesterol, diabetes and high blood pressure.  Many doctors say the limited time they have available during office visits makes it difficult to discuss aspirin use and other preventive measures.

Self Defense: Ask your doctor about taking aspirin regularly to prevent heart disease.

Gone to Greece

The Challenger's are planning an April event to hear the stories and look at pictures from Barb W. and Cathy S.'s recent trip to the country of Greece. Everyone is welcome! Call Barb or Cathy for date and time.

Youth!  Going to Camp?

This year's camp theme is "Handle With Care"... your relationship with God, with each other and with creation!

It's working up to be a great year for fun at Kirkmont, so check out your schedules and get your registrations in for camp(s) you'd like to spend a week at with old and new friends doing adventurous things this summer!

Adults: There's room for you too as counselors! I'd especially love to have you join me at Beginner's Camp - June 15-18.

Youth Sunday - April 20th "The Good Samaritan"

Please plan to attend this special worship service written and presented by the youth of this community.  Along with our youth at FPC, you will meet young people from The Lutheran Church and St. Patrick's Church as they culminate their mission weekend of the 30-Hour famine in this old story of The Good Samaritan.

Misfits

will meet April 20th at 6pm at the home of Roy and Sue C.

Nametags

NAMETAGS:   a subject that guarantees an instant reaction.

Either you love ‘em or you hate ‘em.   Regardless of one’s opinion on the subject, it is a “given” that wearing name tags is helpful for everyone, visitors as well as long-time members.  Please wear yours.

If, perhaps, you cannot find your name tag in the display areas in the Gathering Area or the Narthex, please write your name on the clipboard near the displays, and we will remedy the situation.

A very big and special thank you goes to Jo and Russ  for tidying up the name tag displays in both the Gathering Area and the Narthex.  Don’t they look nice?  What a vast improvement!
